Historical Heritage

Fort Tiracol was originally built in the 17th century by the Raja of Sawantwadi and later captured by the Portuguese in 1746. The fort was converted into a heritage hotel while preserving its original Portuguese architecture, including the Church of St. Anthony inside the fort walls. Guests can explore the ramparts and watchtowers that offer commanding views of the Arabian Sea and the Tiracol River estuary.
